The Incomprehensible Present
Today we're in the middle of a baseless moral panic
From a post added to Facebook, 6/8/2026
It's incomprehensible.
For as long as anyone can remember, trans people have been going about their everyday lives, doing what other people of their adopted gender do. No one complained. I am living evidence of that: 18 years 'out'. I have travelled everywhere in the UK for my teaching roles and taught thousands of post-16 students of every type, culture, ethnicity and background. I have made friends across gender, race and sexuality domains. I have been elected to important posts by colleagues who know my professional capacity and dependability. In all those 18 years I can count on the fingers of one hand the number of times I've had incidents or clashes with others. UNTIL NOW.
So why NOW? Could it be that all those cisgender women I've worked with (and who were close friends) were simply too cowed to say anything? Did they really stay silent about my 'predatory potential' as I traipsed off with them to the Ladies? Or were they stupid 'handmaidens', incapable of seeing how a transgender person was duping them?
Come off it...
Today, we're in the middle of a baseless moral panic, fostered by those who want to see us fighting one another whilst they get on with what they do best: lining their own pockets.
